The story behind the image:
I live for the chase. I spend hours, days, weeks, months and now we’re up to years chasing the perfect flight shot, the perfect dive and that micro split second where the beak kisses the surface of the water (which continues to elude me).
But sometimes things calm down and we are all still.
There is a serenity to this picture that I find quite calming. It reminds me of sitting in the waiting room in the cardiology department - an annual event for me following my illness and why this image was selected for my personal project ‘The heart of the Mater’ which you can read about here
